# Investigation: Mudfossil University / Roger Spurr — Claims, Citations, Yale History, and Validation Status (Open)

> **TL;DR:** **Roger Spurr** (**[Mudfossil University](https://www.youtube.com/@mudfossiluniversity)** / **[mfutools.com](https://mfutools.com/)**) claims many rocks/landforms are **soft-tissue mudfossils**, citing **Helix Biological Laboratory Project P-234** (2015): short **~100 bp** human **mtDNA** PCR/BLAST hits on **“36 inch tip”** and **“Lung”** samples (sequencing via **Eton Biosciences**, NJ). That report is now **archived and read** ([§3.1](#31-dna-lab-report-helix-p-234-archived)); it **does not name Yale**. Spurr’s **Yale** stories are **outreach packaging**, not the load-bearing proof ([§4](#4-yale-harvard-and-academia-outreach), [§7.1](#71-controlled-opposition-assessment)). Two **distinct** Spurr narratives appear in public writing. They are **not automatically compatible**; both need documentary chase.

### 4.1 Narrative A — Dismissal without examination (~LinkedIn era)

From Spurr’s LinkedIn article *[Academia's Dirty Little Illegal secret](https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/academias-dirty-little-illegal-secret-roger-spurr)* (written when he said he had been “deeply involved… about **3 years**” — consistent with **~2015** if discovery is **2012**):

- Frames educators as having **fiduciary** duties to students and hints at legal remedy.

**Documented so far:** Spurr’s own LinkedIn text. **Not documented:** named Yale/Harvard contacts, dated correspondence, departmental stamps, or any Yale publication citing Spurr specimens.

### 4.2 Narrative B — “Yale took credit” (Discourse, Jan 2025)

On the MFU Discourse intro thread ([Hello Friends… Roger Spurr](https://mudfossil.discourse.group/t/hello-friends-this-is-roger-spurr-from-mudfossil-university/63)), Spurr posts (image caption references DNA tests):

Timing (~10 years before Jan 2025) matches the **2015 Helix P-234** window — but **P-234 never mentions Yale**. Sequencing credit in the report goes to **Eton Biosciences Inc.** (Union, NJ).

**Open conflict with Narrative A:** Dismissal-without-looking ≠ taking credit. Working hypotheses (unproven):

1. Spurr conflates **outreach rejection** with later **soft-tissue / aDNA headlines** (often **Schweitzer / NCSU** dinosaur soft tissue — *not* Yale).
2. A **specific Yale contact** (Peabody / med / imaging) is alleged but never named publicly.
3. Rhetorical escalation; no paper/PI exists.

On the website / public claims: Google Earth “dragons” and continent-scale bodies are easy-debunk bait; they drag down any serious soft-tissue / mud-preservation question. In this email thread: I asked four concrete things (contamination controls beyond the extraction blank, Yale person/publication, CT/coroner docs, Middletown dig coords or site description). You haven’t answered any of them in writing. Instead the path went to phone-only, then old voice phone, then a cell you rarely use — after I already offered published pointers and postal mail. That looks like closing every door that would produce a document someone else can check.

You can still turn this investigation around. If you help me locate any corroborating material — radiology letterhead or anonymized DICOMs, dig coordinates or a site description, the coroner/anatomist name, or the Yale paper/person you mean — I’ll credit it fairly and update the dossier. Frankly, you don’t seem interested in that path at all. Warm engagement without paper is not enough for citations.
